Multibillion Hedge is looking to attract a Number 2 to Head of Operations.

The fund is a multi-strategy investment model, with a heavy macro presence since inception now looking to expand into credit.

The position has come up for two main reasons; 1) a Senior Member of the team has moved into a front office role leaving a knowledge gap and 2) recent onboarding of two new credit PMs which will immediately increase trading volumes.

The role is a diverse blend of TA, Middle Office, and Project Management responsibilities with a global lens inclusive of the major hedge funds hubs.

The project angle to the role is all about scale! The fund has a huge appetite for growth, said business change tasks typically being; build out and enhancement of infrastructure and workflows in order to trade efficiently in new products, seamless entry to new regions, and onboarding further PMs are key examples.

A Senior Operations person looking to step up into management would work given the Head of Operations is a seasoned Multi Manager Tier 1 Operational Leader, fully bought into supporting and mentoring the new incumbent before they take over the day-to-day leading of the department. Equally, an Operations Manager with relevant Hedge Fund Operations experience is encouraged to apply.

Key Duties

• Deputising to the Head of Operations.
• Facing off to all PM teams – operations desk sits directly next to the trading teams.
• First port of call for Credit PMs in particular for all operational queries.
• Trade booking, risk management, P&L and pricing.
• Monitoring positions and daily bespoke reporting.
• Oversight of outsourced model on T+1 front to back trade flow/reconciliations.
• Leading the team day to day, appraisals, training and mentoring.
• Building out infrastructure and operational controls and STP downstream.
• Vendor onboarding and implementation.
• System onboarding and implementation.
• Helping the fund continue to scale with the build and enhancement of infrastructure and workflows.

Experience Required

• Hedge Fund experience is a prerequisite.
• Broad asset class coverage, particularly credit is highly desirable.
• Strong front to back trade cycle management.
• In-depth experience of facing off to investment teams and managing operational queries.
• Evidence of building out infrastructure for new PM teams and trading strategies.
• Oversight of outsource models and managing key vendors.
• Motivated to scale and lead an operational division at a multibillion, multi-complex fund.
