We are a founder-led insurance brokerage at an exciting stage of growth and are seeking an ambitious Account Executive to build a new portfolio of SME and mid-market commercial insurance clients. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is focused on relationship-led new business development, consultative selling, and long-term client ownership. Starting with no inherited book, the successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business, building trusted client relationships, and playing a key role in the ongoing growth of the brokerage. This opportunity will suit someone who can genuinely sell, enjoys building relationships from scratch, and is motivated by performance-based reward.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and grow a personal portfolio of SME and mid-market commercial insurance clients from inception
- Proactively generate new business through networking, referrals, introducers, and outbound prospecting
- Work closely with the Managing Director to align sales activity with the brokerage's growth strategy
- Represent the business professionally at client meetings, networking events, and industry forums
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Take a consultative approach to understanding clients' businesses, risks, and insurance needs
- Design, present, and place tailored commercial insurance solutions across core product lines
- Own and manage client relationships long-term, ensuring high service standards and retention
- Support referrals and cross-selling through strong relationship management
Teamwork & Collaboration
- Work as part of a small, close-knit team, contributing positively to culture and growth
- Collaborate with Account Handlers to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing servicing
- Share market insight, ideas, and best practice to support continuous improvement
Insurance Market & Compliance
- Negotiate premiums, terms, and coverage with insurers and underwriters
- Ensure all activity complies with FCA regulations and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles
- Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and audit trails
Skills & Experience
- Experience working within a UK insurance brokerage environment
- Strong knowledge of SME and mid-market commercial insurance products
- Proven ability to generate new business through consultative, relationship-led sales
- Confident communicator and negotiator with strong client-facing skills
- Solid understanding of FCA regulatory requirements
Desirable
- Experience building a book of business from scratch
- Existing professional, local, or business network
- ACII qualified or working towards

What We Offer
- Basic salary: Β£25,000 - Β£35,000, dependent on experience and proven sales ability
- Uncapped commission of up to 25%, structured based on basic salary level
