We are a founder‑led insurance brokerage at an exciting stage of growth and are seeking an Account Executive to build a new portfolio of SME and mid‑market commercial insurance clients. This role is focused on relationship‑led new business development and long‑term client ownership. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating new business, building trusted client relationships, and contributing to the continued growth and culture of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and develop a personal portfolio of SME and mid‑market commercial insurance clients from inception.
- Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, introducer relationships, and proactive prospecting.
- Work closely with the Managing Director to align new business activity with the brokerage's growth strategy.
- Represent the business professionally at client meetings, networking events, and industry forums.
- Take a consultative approach to understanding prospective clients' businesses, risks, and insurance requirements.
- Design and present tailored commercial insurance solutions across core product lines.
- Manage onboarding of new clients and retain ownership of relationships as the portfolio grows.
- Deliver high service standards to support long‑term client retention and referrals.
- Work as part of a small, collaborative team, contributing positively to the brokerage's culture.
- Collaborate closely with Account Handlers and colleagues to ensure smooth onboarding and servicing.
- Share ideas, market insight, and best practice to support continuous improvement.
- Negotiate terms, premiums, and coverage with insurers and underwriters.
- Ensure all activity complies with FCA regulations and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
- Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and audit trails.
Skills & Experience
- Experience within a UK insurance brokerage environment.
- Knowledge of SME and mid‑market commercial insurance products.
- Proven ability to generate new business in a consultative, relationship‑led manner.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Understanding of FCA regulatory requirements.
