About the role

Our Legal & Compliance team exists to help the business move fast — with clarity, confidence, and the right level of risk. We see Legal as an enabler: partnering closely across the company to support growth, navigate complexity, and build pragmatic frameworks that scale with us as we expand globally. This role sits at the heart of that mission as a Legal Counsel. You’ll work across the business on everything from commercial contracts and product launches to corporate transactions and compliance, providing clear, actionable guidance that helps teams make decisions and keep momentum. You’ll also play a key role in shaping our legal infrastructure — maintaining core documents, improving processes, and helping us stay ahead of an evolving regulatory landscape (particularly across data, AI, and international expansion). It’s a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys bringing structure to ambiguity, simplifying complex topics, and building for scale — all while working closely with a wide range of stakeholders in a fast‑growing, product‑led company.

What you’ll do

  • Enable commercial velocity: Efficiently draft, review, and negotiate sales contracts, reducing friction in the sales cycle while protecting Attio’s interests.
  • Provide pragmatic, business‑first guidance: Support teams across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Finance, and People with clear, actionable legal advice that keeps momentum high.
  • Ensure global compliance: Proactively support compliance across data protection, AI, employment, and corporate requirements as we expand our products, enter new markets or regions.
  • Support governance, equity, and fundraising: Contribute to company secretarial duties, equity plan management, and ensure ongoing readiness for fundraising and due diligence.
  • Simplify complexity and build for scale: Translate legal complexity into clear guidance, while building processes, playbooks, and tools that improve speed and consistency.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong legal grounding: ~ 3PQE UK‑qualified lawyer with experience obtained across both UK and international settings (particularly the US and Europe).
  • Startup or scale‑up experience: You’ve worked in‑house (or closely with) a fast‑moving tech company and understand how to operate in ambiguity.
  • Technical and AI fluency: You have a strong interest in leveraging AI and modern tooling to improve legal, and can help the business understand and safely adopt new technologies.
  • Commercial instinct: Confident drafting and negotiating SaaS agreements, NDAs, procurement and commercial agreements, with the judgment to balance risk and progress.
  • Generalist capability: Comfortable with a varied workload, including in areas such as data protection, technology, employment, and corporate matters.
  • Ownership mindset: You take responsibility end‑to‑end and follow things through, without needing close direction.
  • High energy and bias for action: You move with urgency, lean into problems, and are equally comfortable in the detail as you are high‑level strategic advice.
  • Clear and pragmatic communication: You break down complex legal concepts into simple, actionable guidance — making it easy for teams to understand, decide, and move forward.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary of £90,000 - £110,000
  • Equity in an early‑stage tech company on an incredible trajectory
  • 25 days holiday plus local public holidays
  • Apple hardware
