We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Platform Engineer to join the Attest platform squad. Attest’s platform squad exists to empower other engineers to deliver value with high efficiency, security and reliability, by empowering them with platforms, tooling and infrastructure. We take a two-pronged approach: running, maintaining, and supporting platforms and tools that are used on a daily basis by other engineers, whilst simultaneously identifying and implementing improvements to Developer Experience more broadly.
In person and remote working balance: We embrace a flexible hybrid work model. While we don't mandate specific office days, we encourage Attesters to work on-site 2 days per week, typically Tuesdays and Thursdays. This approach allows us to collaborate in person, while ensuring enough time remotely for deep, focussed work.
What You’ll Do:
- As a Platform Engineer, you share responsibility for the stability, scalability, security and efficiency of Attest’s platform infrastructure.
- You work in collaboration with both platform team members and other people from across the organisation to scope out, prioritise and deliver technical enhancements to the Attest platform, ensuring that the wider Attest engineering team can work efficiently.
- Your role will include:
- Working with other squads to understand what blocks Attest’s engineers from delivering effectively, and you’ll identify the highest impact work that will improve the efficiency of our workflows.
- Delivering day to day tactical improvements, typically including optimising CI/CD pipelines; automating and improving our AWS/EKS infrastructure with Terraform and Pulumi; responding to incidents along with other engineers; maintaining and improving our telemetry, and maintaining platform documentation.
- Improving developer tooling and making sure that our engineers can feel confident using the tools at their disposal.
- Continuously evaluating the effectiveness, suitability and cost effectiveness of Attest’s platform and infrastructure, ensuring that as the company grows, the technology we use scales appropriately alongside the platform team itself.
- Playing an important role in making sure that Attest stays up to date with key technological developments in the wider industry.
- Working with leaders across the business to ensure our platform meets any compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Supporting and mentoring a strong culture of development, making sure that the skills of the platform team and engineers remain relevant and impactful.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help to set a clear platform roadmap tied to business goals, with governance, security, and reliability baked in.
- Own projects end-to-end (from planning through launch) working autonomously and keeping everyone in the loop.
- Explain complex ideas in plain language for engineers, leaders, and external partners alike.
- Remove friction for development teams by building shared tools and two-way integrations.
- Bring a positive, collaborative mindset, always prioritising the work that delivers the biggest impact.
The Tools and Technologies we use are:
- Linux, AWS, Kubernetes and cloud networking, ideally for SaaS applications.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation or CDK.
- Programming languages, such as Python, Golang or JavaScript.
- CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitOps, like GitHub actions or ArgoCD.
Amazing Benefits:
- Work from anywhere up to 80 days a year.
- 25 days holiday per year plus additional festive days.
- £40 monthly wellbeing budget.
- £20 monthly L&D budget, plus access to a larger budget for qualifications and courses.
- Private Medical Insurance.
- Access to free therapy through Spill.
- 2 days per-month to do charity or community work.
- Enhanced parental leave (18 weeks paid leave for Primary carer).
- Up to 12 weeks paid leave for premature births and neonatal care.
- Paid leave for IVF and fertility treatment and pregnancy loss.
- Share options.
We’d love to hear from you, if:
- You align with and actively embody our core values, which are more than just words—they are the foundation of everything we do.
- Specifically this means we’re seeking a dynamic leader who can balance big-picture thinking with hands-on problem-solving.
- The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in being Outcome Focused as a Platform Engineer or in a similar leadership role, ideally within a scale-up or fast-growth environment.
- A strong technical background and comfortable with Embracing The Future, with hands-on experience in infrastructure, architecture, and system design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to Win Together capable of communicating effectively to drive efficiency and bring everyone along.
- A track record of successfully scaling systems with a Win Together mentality while maintaining a high bar for quality.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, security best practices, and cloud-based technologies (we use AWS but we believe skills are transferable from similar products such as Azure and GCP).
This role might not be for you if:
- You want to work in a silo and not communicate and work with other engineers and departments.
- You want to focus on actions only, this role is for someone who wants to investigate and identify problems and come with solutions.
- You are looking for a role where you can be remote. We believe that the best way to collaborate is in person and so we have regular office days (twice a week) where we can collaborate and come up with new ideas and perspectives together.
- You want to only work within tech. This role will require someone who is comfortable collaborating outside of the department and building communication channels.
- You are not excited to take the lead on larger projects and guide the team, even though your manager will support the overall operations.
Please note that we're unfortunately not able to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
