Drainage Engineer – Night Shift

London / Gravesend

Full time, permanent position – 5x shifts per week (Monday–Friday, 15:00 – 01:00).

Salary: up to £42,900 per year plus up to £10,000 in overtime, depending on experience. Benefits include pension and annual leave.

Responsibilities

  • Attend reactive emergency callouts to clear internal above ground blockages, including soil stacks, float lines and small bore pipework.
  • Leak tracing and investigation on above ground water services.
  • Repair leaks on water services in service voids and risers.
  • Remove and replace small bore waste pipe on pot wash sinks, basins, urinals, etc.
  • Replace mixer taps, wash-down taps and spray guns.
  • Replace toilet float lines and stack pipework.
  • Remove and install cast iron soil pipework.
  • Assist drainage operatives with cutting in pipe access to support blockage clearance and investigation works.
  • Assist other plumbing operatives with quoted works, including both small reactive works and large internal above ground drainage replacements.
  • Support drainage operatives with internal drain descales.
  • Use CCTV equipment to support leak investigation.
  • Take water samples to confirm source of leaks.
  • Support excavation teams with repairs on belowground water mains.
  • Carry out extensive descale works for above and below ground drainage, including small bore and stack pipework, using HPWJ, electromechanical milling machines and hand coring machines.
  • Conduct CCTV surveys, inspections and detailed investigations involving fault finding and providing practical solutions to support the client's needs.
  • Generally support drainage teams with clearance and blockage works should emergencies arise.

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years of drainage experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of plumbing experience.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to support drainage-related plumbing works.
  • Experience working on commercial properties.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player.
  • Willingness to learn and progress within the role.
  • Self-motivation, discipline, and a serious attitude towards health and safety.
  • Attention to detail and customer-focused attitude.
