Are you an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer looking to take ownership of full project lifecycles, from concept and design through to commissioning and client handover? Attega Group is proud to be partnering with a leading engineering solutions provider to recruit an Automation & Controls Engineer to join their growing Projects & Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong PLC, HMI/SCADA, and electrical design experience who enjoys delivering bespoke process systems and turnkey automation solutions across a variety of industries. In return, is a salary of up to £55,000 P/A, depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Designing electrical control panels and producing electrical schematics.
- Developing PLC and HMI/SCADA software solutions to meet customer requirements.
- Producing User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Functional Design Specifications.
- Programming, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding PLC and control systems.
- Conducting factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site commissioning activities.
- Designing and integrating complete automation solutions including VFDs, instrumentation, and process equipment.
- Producing Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacture and project costing.
- Attending client and supplier meetings to define project scope and technical requirements.
- Supporting the sales team with technical proposals and quotations.
- Producing technical documentation including CE/UKCA/UKNI/UL compliance packs, SOPs, and maintenance documentation.
- Supporting research and development of new products and process systems.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously to ensure successful delivery against programme requirements.
Ideal Candidate
- BEng Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience designing and delivering industrial automation projects.
- Strong PLC programming experience, particularly Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal.
- Experience developing HMI and SCADA systems.
- Ability to test, commission, and fault-find electrical control systems up to 415VAC.
- Experience producing electrical schematics using Autodesk Electrical, EPLAN, or similar software.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.
- Strong understanding of industrial process systems.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Highly Desirable
- Experience with Mitsubishi, Schneider, Allen Bradley, or Rockwell PLC platforms.
- Food & Beverage, Process Engineering, Pharmaceutical, Water Treatment, or Manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience delivering turnkey process systems.
- Familiarity with CE, UKCA, UKNI, or UL compliance requirements.
