Solicitor -Constitutional and Civil Law Division

Service Care Solutions is seeking an experienced Solicitor to join the Constitutional and Civil Law Division in the Scottish Government Legal Directorate.

This role involves providing core advisory services to various teams and working on a wide range of projects, including Bills, legislation, and judicial appointments.

Salary: Starting from £57,701 per annum (LTD day rate: £302.66). The post is for 6 months, with the possibility of a 6-month extension.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Providing practical legal advice on civil justice law, judicial appointments, and conditions of tenure.
2. Advising on the Judiciary and Courts (Scotland) Act 2008 and the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014.
3. Working on bill work, including the Regulation of Legal Services (Scotland) Bill and other primary legislation projects.
4. Collaborating with the employment law team on judicial and public appointments.
5. Gaining experience with reserved/devolved interface, public law, ECHR, and UNCRC.

Candidate Requirements:

• Scottish practising Solicitor with Public Law experience.
• Strong legal knowledge and skills.
