FJA is recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and construction company specialising in the design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment infrastructure for an experienced

Principle Civil Engineer.

Based primarily in

Rickmansworth

with hybrid working available.

You will report directly to the RDL, providing high-quality engineering design services to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. Your role will include co-ordinating the design and producing design documents and drawings, considering health and safety, specifications, and standards relevant to the contract.

Key responsibilities include:

– Producing cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and are practical to construct and commission, considering all associated costs.
– Utilizing standard practices where possible and maintaining competitiveness.
– Providing estimates and feedback for proposals.
– Developing, monitoring, and reviewing procedures and processes to improve departmental efficiency.
– Ensuring design coordination with all disciplines, maintaining files and records, and assuring customer satisfaction.
– Working within a culture prioritizing customer satisfaction, including internal and external stakeholders.
– Maintaining personal development plans and supervising staff.
– Ensuring a safe working environment, minimizing waste, and considering environmental and health and safety issues in designs.

About The Candidate:

Essential:
– Understanding of water and sewage treatment principles.
– Experience managing/mentoring staff in relevant design disciplines.
– Membership of a professional institution (chartered or nearing chartership).
– Civil Engineering degree (preferable) or HND (minimum).
– Ability to rationalise designs and produce economical layouts.
– Good knowledge of water treatment aspects and related engineering fields.
– Flexibility, data assimilation skills, and clear technical proposal presentation.
– Valid driving license.

Desirable:
– Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
– Relevant Master\’s Degree in Engineering.
