GBR Recruitment Ltd are proud to be working exclusively with a leading multi-disciplined Construction / Mechanical & Electrical business, who are heavily involved in Telecoms, Solar, EV, Digital Advertising, M&E, plus turnkey solutions across the built environment. They are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their Electrical department who has experience in one or several of the following: multi-disciplined Construction / Mechanical & Electrical, Telecoms, Solar, EV, Digital Advertising or M&E services.

This is a key Electrical bias role, with the post holder accurately estimating the cost of M&E contracts/projects, with detailed proposals, working in collaboration with the project management & sales teams, to offer customers the best deal & service possible, at the right price, at the right margins, plus with the right time-frame parameters to deliver the end product OTIF with a successful handover to the client.

You will be used to working with AC DC current flows, plus have the ability to analyse project specifications & the deliverables, plus allocate time of project delivery, costings, materials, resources & labour needs. If you are an Electrical Guru, then this is the role for you.

Duties:
  • Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare timescales of delivery, costings, materials required for the project, and labour usage/cost estimates.
  • Evaluate bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that everything required to successfully bid and win the project is understood and clearly communicated.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities associated with the project.
  • Prepare and submit competitive tenders and bids.
  • Conduct site visits and meetings with clients to discuss scope of works.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Review sub-contractor and supplier quotes, securing the best possible terms (negotiating these to achieve the best margins/ROI possible).
  • Support project and sales managers and the wider team in delivering successful projects OTIF in and to the allocated/expected budget.
  • Work closely in partnership with the Head of Procurement to identify key suppliers, deliver feedback on rates and service to maintain an effective supply chain and directory of suppliers and contractors.
  • Submit handover packs and participate in post-tender/bid negotiations.
  • Attend handover meetings, ensuring the smooth delivery.
  • Continuously monitor the progress of projects (forecasting/evaluating).
  • Stock management of stores, to accurately assess the cost of jobs and ensure efficient delivery for future sites.
Attributes Required:
  • Vast experience as an Electrical Estimator or a similar role within the electrical contracting industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and project management principles.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, suppliers, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body, such as RICS & CIBSE is advantageous.
