As a school leaver with:
- chemistry A level (predictions at least BCC)
Would you like to be part of a global organization within the R&D sector, working across Technical Support teams to provide support to operations and project leaders, particularly in complaint resolution, defect and materials investigation, and the development and qualification of new packaging materials and formats? Embarking on a degree apprenticeship, you will primarily support technical activities while completing a part-time distance learning Chemical Science Degree.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pack testing and analytical chemistry activities while completing the degree.
- Support other R&D activities as required, with training.
- Prepare products to standard recipes and pack cans (filling, seaming, and cooking) to industry standards.
- Open cans and prepare for examination.
- Manage workload and samples using IT systems, ensuring traceability through documentation and labelling.
- Evaluate container, coating, and product performance.
- Record critical can performance indicators and visually examine samples for features of interest.
- Record and investigate defects using tests like microscopy.
- Report results in formal reports with clear conclusions.
- Plan pack test programs based on business and R&D requirements.
- Assist with generating accurate data sets using techniques such as Microwave Digestion, Ion Chromatography (IC), ICP-OES, FTIR, DSC, HPLC.
- Conduct analyses and investigations using appropriate analytical techniques to support business, customers, and project teams.
Qualifications / Experience
- Minimum of 104 UCAS points at A-level (grades BCC), including chemistry or an equivalent scientific discipline.
- Desirable: Experience in food packaging, food production, or analytical chemistry environments.
- Competent in computing skills and Microsoft Office.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including presenting scientific data.
- Responsibility for personal development and a commitment to learning.
