I\’m currently working with a rapidly growing engineering consultancy that\’s looking to add a talented
Infrastructure CAD Technician or Assistant Engineer
to their Birmingham team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their civil engineering career, working within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
You\’ll be joining a collaborative Civil/Infrastructure Engineering team that\’s delivering sustainable, practical solutions across a range of civil engineering and lighting design projects. The team is working on a diverse portfolio of developments across the UK – so no two days will be the same!
What They\’re Looking For:
They\’re keen to speak with candidates who enjoy being hands-on with design and drawings, supporting engineers through the preparation of technical plans, and contributing to infrastructure solutions. This role would suit someone with strong CAD experience and a desire to grow professionally in a supportive, fast-paced consultancy environment.
What You\’ll Need:
A
BTEC / HNC
in Civil Engineering or a related subject.
At least
2 years\’ relevant experience
– ideally within a consultancy or private sector development setting.
Solid
AutoCAD
skills (or similar CAD software), with the ability to work from mark-ups, sketches, and specifications.
Understanding of
UK highway design principles ; lighting design experience is a bonus (training provided if not).
Knowledge of
Section 38 and 278
drawings for planning, tender, and construction.
Familiarity with relevant UK guidance such as
Manual for Streets ,
DMRB , and local authority standards.
Experience with
3D software
(e.g. Site3D or Civil 3D) would be a plus – but not essential.
A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to take on increasing responsibility within the team.
