In our Senior Analyst role, you will be part of a cross functional delivery team working with NHS customers to deliver programmes, projects, transformation and services. Your role will be to bring advanced analytics and innovative, robust approaches to that team and to inform decision making and enhance impact. You’ll contribute analytical leadership and expertise across a diverse range of programmes supporting both immediate priorities and longer-term development. Your insight will help to embed improvement and deliver better outcomes for our partners and local communities.

What your days may look like:

  • Build robust, complex and transparent models from initial stages to final outputs, using a broad range of analytical methods (includes biostatistics, epidemiology, financial, economic and workforce modelling) utilising a range of software tools including Excel/Power Query, Python and other specialist packages.
  • Application of a broad range of operational research approaches and techniques including forecasting, decision analysis, statistics, design of experiments and hypothesis testing.
  • Healthcare demand and activity planning across neighbourhood and system footprints to understand the impact of integrating services.
  • Problem structuring, root cause analysis and solution design are key activities for the job.
  • Managing a project which includes managing your own time, leading on analytical project design, planning and scoping.
  • Support the development and implementation of innovative models of care working with multiple partners across the health and social care including the third sectors to support integration.
  • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders including clinicians, operational management, commissioning colleagues, along with wider stakeholders to contribute to the analytical solution so that they remain central to all decisions.
  • Act as the key analytical contact on projects responsible for the delivery of the analytical product and outputs, together with effective hand over and training.

About you:

  • Extensive analytical experience including model development.
  • Qualification in a highly numerate, data science or operational research related subject is preferable.
  • A working knowledge of the NHS and the related strategic drivers is required.
  • Demonstratable special interest in analytics and modelling, to support the ongoing transition in the future NHS.
  • Understanding of preventative health, health economics, and drivers of health and underlying factors of healthcare services demand at population level.
  • Good understanding of health data, and experience in analysing complex health-related data to inform high level decision making including how organisations work together, are funded, and how they operate.
  • Strong Excel modelling skillset essential in combination with more advanced tools such as simulation packages, python and PowerBI.
  • An interest or experience in AI apps and machine learning would also be beneficial.
  • Exposure to NHS commercial data and modelling, including finance models, data, and procurement information, would be advantageous in this role.
  • Ability to create logical, robust models, these may include adaption of ready-made models or developing bespoke solutions from scratch to accommodate changing client requirements.
  • Experience of building demand and capacity, workforce or finance models essential.
  • Ability to make sense of complex data and present in a simple, coherent fashion for a wide range of stakeholders including the creative use of graphics to bring data to life.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to be able to effectively present your solutions to stakeholders across all levels.
  • Demonstrable success in an analytical problem-solving environment, representing proven modelling and data analysis skills.
  • Evidence of ability to engage and build strong relationships with senior-level clients and front-line staff.
  • Resilience and flexibility to meet changing demands.
  • The ability to manage and prioritise project activities.
  • Confident working independently applying your initiative and managing your own time and deliverables as well as working as effective member of a collaborative team environment to jointly deliver solutions.
  • With a deep sector knowledge, being able to apply your analytical skills to different projects with varying subject matters.
