Step into a day where machines depend on you

You arrive on the floor, review overnight CMMS notes, and prioritize work. A press is down—your diagnostic instincts kick in. You observe it in operation, trace the root cause, safely lock out/tag out, and dismantle the assembly to access a worn component. You examine parts for imperfections, replace what’s defective, reassemble, and run functional tests. Before lunch, you log predictive maintenance data, tune a control loop, and mentor a junior tech on safe welding practices. The afternoon brings a CI huddle focused on cost savings, a 5S sweep, and a PLC configuration tweak to clear a persistent alarm. You wrap by updating maintenance records and planning tomorrow’s preventative tasks.

What you’ll tackle

  • Perform mid-to-advanced break-fix and preventative maintenance across electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems.
  • Observe equipment in operation to pinpoint root causes; disassemble to access/replace defective parts; recondition machine tools; and verify performance with functional/electrical tests.
  • Independently execute maintenance aligned with industry standards and best practices.
  • Source and identify parts, supplies, and repair items to keep assets running.
  • Set up and operate machining equipment (e.g., lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools) to fabricate or repair components; perform welding as needed.
  • Champion 5S and strong housekeeping; drive continuous improvement initiatives tied to process, results, and cost reduction.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS records and review equipment history to inform decisions.
  • Troubleshoot control systems to resolve software, hardware, and configuration issues.
  • Use predictive maintenance technologies to capture and interpret performance data.
  • Support and mentor lower-level technicians; provide leadership to small teams and take on advanced tasks as part of ongoing development.
  • Engage in on-the-job learning and self-study to advance your technical career.
  • Follow all safety policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines with strong situational awareness to recognize and correct unsafe conditions/behaviors.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Either: (a) Associate degree with a technical focus plus 3 years of related general-industry experience; or (b) 5 years of related general-industry experience; or (c) successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.
