We are a progressive and growing mental health service providing high-quality psychological and psychiatric care to adults and young people. Our clinic delivers specialist neurodevelopmental assessments, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments for adults, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice, clinical integrity, and patient‑centred care.
Role Overview
We are seeking a suitably qualified and HCPC‑registered Clinical Psychologist to conduct comprehensive adult ASD assessments. The role involves face-to-face assessments near Epping, with flexibility for remote scoring, formulation, and report writing. This post is ideal for an experienced clinician who values high diagnostic standards and compassionate, neuro‑affirmative practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Duties
- Conduct comprehensive adult ASD diagnostic assessments in line with NICE guidance and best practice.
- Use recognised diagnostic tools and frameworks (e.g. ADOS-2, ADI‑R, clinical interviews, collateral histories).
- Complete detailed developmental histories and psychosocial assessments.
- Formulate diagnostic conclusions and provide clear, evidence‑based feedback to patients.
- Produce high‑quality, timely diagnostic reports suitable for clinical, occupational, and statutory use.
- Ensure reports meet professional, ethical, and organisational standards.
- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in line with GDPR and HCPC requirements.
- Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, therapists, and administrative staff.
- Contribute to MDT discussions where required.
- Liaise with referrers and other professionals as appropriate.
- Adhere to HCPC standards of proficiency and professional conduct.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of best practices in ASD assessment.
- Participate in clinical audits, peer review, and supervision as required.
Person Specification
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent).
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Demonstrable experience conducting adult ASD assessments.
- Competence in the use of recognised diagnostic tools (e.g. ADOS‑2).
- Strong diagnostic formulation and report‑writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
- Availability to conduct in‑person assessments near Epping.
- Additional training or accreditation in ASD assessment tools (e.g. ADOS‑2 reliability).
- Experience working within private practice or neurodevelopmental services.
- Familiarity with NICE guidelines for ASD in adults.
- Experience providing post‑diagnostic feedback or signposting.
