This is an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter to join our Political Violence team, playing a key role in underwriting business in line with individual authority and the syndicate’s strategic objectives.

Role:

  • Accepting risks falling into the Political Violence account on behalf of the syndicate.
  • Meeting brokers and clients on behalf of the syndicate.
  • Contribute to the business planning and strategy process.
  • Handling binding authorities in accordance with individual underwriting authority and the relevant regulations.
  • Ensuring underwriting administration is completed to organisational and regulatory standards.
  • Liaising with Exposure Management Team on modelling and aggregate analysis.
  • Liaising with claims team in the assessment and handling of claims and reinsurance recoveries.
  • Accountable for delivering good consumer outcomes within their areas of responsibility, in line with the SM&CR Duty of Responsibility and the Conduct Rules.

Accuracy:

  • Can demonstrate a high degree of accuracy as well as attention to detail when handling data and maintaining records.

Analytical:

  • Analytical approach and confident interpreting financial information.
  • Ability to underwrite to a high standard under the overall supervision of the Head of Political Violence.
  • Deliver market leading service to both new and existing clients / brokers.

Business Production:

  • Ability to generate new business.

Relationship Management:

  • Able to develop and maintain ongoing relationships with brokers, underwriters, clients and colleagues.

Administration and Compliance:

  • Upholds the standards and rules of the regulatory bodies and those set out in the firm's standards documents.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • In depth knowledge of the Political Violence class.
  • Experience underwriting and managing binding authorities.
  • Knowledge of the standards and rules of the regulatory bodies.
  • Knowledge of the types of business transacted by the syndicate.
  • Numeracy and analytical skills.
