We have an exciting new opportunity for an Underwriter to be an integral member of the US-domiciled Weather team, acting as an underwriter and point of contact for internal and external stakeholders in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the Weather Team and Actuarial Pricing Team to design and price bespoke parametric products – specifically conventional, custom and convergence non-cat weather structures.
- Collaborating with the Weather Team to analyse probability and intensity of triggering events to set premiums, focusing on data-driven, non-traditional underwriting methods.
- Servicing Lloyd’s brokers.
- Maintain underwriting databases and ensure data integrity.
- Contribute to strategy development and execution.
- Contribute to portfolio management of the account.
- Ongoing updating portfolio on risk, tracking the impact of elapsed weather on remaining exposures.
- Regular communication with on-risk parametric performance to internal stakeholders.
- Creating, reviewing and monitoring controls in own area of responsibility that interact with the financial reporting process or relate to the provision of data that is used in that process.
- Work with other internal stakeholders to ensure the products and portfolio meet all applicable regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an Underwriter in the London market.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics).
- A strong commercial understanding of underwriting.
- Ability to interpret complex data and draw accurate conclusions.
- Proficiency in Python, R, Excel or other coding language(s) for data modelling.
