Job Description
Software Engineer – Cambridge
Atrium EMEA are looking for a contract Software Engineer to maintain and expand the software and systems of an enterprise level client, in a data collection lab in Cambridge. This is a PAYE role and requires 5 days onsite work.
You will build software for working with cutting-edge prototype devices and integrate them into the data collection platform. The Software Engineer will work with a team of audio/video engineers and recording technicians, as well as an international team of software engineers and interdisciplinary audio researchers. You will be expected to work with them to scope and prioritise tasks, and to collaboratively produce high-quality, maintainable software.
- Developing software to work with cutting-edge prototype wearable devices.
- Making the data collection process efficient, reliable and accurate.
- Working with recording equipment for audio, video, inertial measurements and other modalities.
- Deploying, testing and evaluating upgrades to the distributed data collection platform.
- Building and maintaining systems for monitoring system health.
- Enhancing tooling for the validation and processing of data.
- Working onsite to debug problems and performing root cause analyses.
- Working with other engineers to triage issues, design solutions and estimate work.
- Promoting best practices across the community
Essential:
- Extensive experience of professional programming
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with large projects in Python.
- Proficiency in Linux and shell scripting.
- Skills in maintaining and improving networks.
- Experience with cross-platform distributed (RESTful) and concurrent systems.
- Experience with FastAPI, or similar backend frameworks in Python.
- Working knowledge of time-synchronization.
- Experience working with hardware multimedia sensors.
- Working knowledge of audio, image and video formats.
- Experience with relational and graph/NoSQL databases.
- Experience with software and hardware testing frameworks and strategies.
- Working knowledge of React, or similar frontend frameworks in JavaScript.
- Experience with systems administration on Windows.
