Gibbs Global is supporting a client of ours within the financial services industry who is seeking an experienced IBM MQ Administrator to join their mainframe middleware team.
Job Overview
You will deliver complex technical support and project delivery across the organisation’s IBM MQ estate on z/OS, with a strong focus on incident resolution, problem management and system stability. The role supports critical platforms across multiple business divisions including digital, payments, retail and insurance, while contributing to technology improvements and strategic initiatives. This position includes participation in out of hours deployments and migrations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical support across complex MQ environments to tight timescales
- Deliver incident, problem and change resolution across critical systems
- Drive delivery against the technology roadmap with key stakeholders
- Enforce standardisation and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaborate across wider middleware teams to develop and implement processes
- Deliver changes through RTL into production under governance independently
- Ensure strict adherence to operational processes and procedures
- Perform change and support activities outside business hours when required
- Work with IT Security to maintain MQ product security
- Maintain service stability, resilience and optimisation
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong administration experience of IBM Message Queue (MQ) v9.x on z/OS
- Operational experience using z/OS panels and MQ Explorer
- Experience implementing and supporting TLS
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting online systems
- Strong diagnostic and analytical skills across complex technical environments
