Job Overview
This role sits within the Enterprise Architecture function and provides independent design assurance and governance across solution designs and delivery plans. You will assess proposals against enterprise standards, principles and technology strategy, offering constructive challenge and clear guidance to delivery teams. The focus is on ensuring solutions are well designed, compliant, resilient and aligned to long term architectural outcomes rather than short term fixes. This position works closely with architects, engineers and stakeholders across complex, regulated environments.
Responsibilities
- Assess solution designs, technical proposals and delivery plans against enterprise architecture standards and principles
- Review alignment with approved reference architectures, patterns, roadmaps and technology strategy
- Ensure security, resilience and regulatory considerations are embedded in all designs
- Support Design Authority forums with assessments, recommendations and decision rationale
- Identify architectural risks, technical debt and non-compliance and ensure these are documented and managed
- Provide clear, reasoned challenge and constructive feedback to designers and engineers
- Explain assurance outcomes and required changes in a professional and diplomatic manner
- Promote reuse, simplification and consistency across the technology landscape
- Contribute to evolving architecture standards, governance and assurance practices
- Share best practice and support capability uplift within solution design teams
Requirements
- 5+ years experience in Enterprise or Solution Architecture within large, complex organisations
- Experience operating within regulated environments, ideally financial services
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, governance and design authority models
- Experience reviewing and assuring solution designs and delivery plans
- Hands-on data architecture capability including SQL, dbt and No-SQL modelling
- Solid understanding of modern application, integration and infrastructure architectures
- Ability to provide confident, evidence-based challenge to senior stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience balancing strategic architecture goals with delivery constraints
