Deputy Home Manager – Children and Young People

Location: Hatfield

Salary: Β£34,000 – Β£40,000 per annum (DOE) plus additional sleep-in payments

Hours: Full-time, working long day shifts with occasional sleep-ins

Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential

I am recruiting on behalf of a respected provider of residential childcare services for children and young people. We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Deputy Home Manager to join a supportive and passionate team in Hatfield. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker or an existing Deputy Manager who is ready to take on greater responsibility and contribute to a nurturing, child-focused environment.

As Deputy Manager, you will be an integral part of the home\’s leadership team, playing a key role in ensuring high standards of care and compliance. You will be part of a regional network of homes within a growing organisation that values creativity, development, and the empowerment of staff to make meaningful changes.

You will receive ongoing support to gain your Level 5 qualification, develop leadership skills, and grow into future management opportunities. The organisation promotes a therapeutic approach to care and is committed to positive, trauma-informed practices that help children and young people thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring it operates in line with Ofsted standards and organisational policies.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of residential staff, promoting a positive, supportive culture.
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare of all children and young people in your care.
  • Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and the delivery of individualised support.
  • Manage rotas, staffing, and budgets effectively.
  • Take responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of the home\’s therapeutic model of care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years\’ experience working in a Residential Children\’s Home, ideally at Senior or Deputy level.
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma/NVQ in Children and Young People.
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience managing rotas, budgets, and staff teams.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
