We are working with a leading Groundworks and Civil Engineering company operating nationwide, delivering everything from complex large projects to smaller scale jobs. They are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the team as they are expanding and have a busy pipeline of future projects due to land.
Your role:
- Take offs and Measures, measure a project and take off what materials are required.
- Pricing of the BOQ and checking.
- Pricing of Variations.
- Monthly application for works completed for payment.
- Create tender submission and return having reviewed with internal team.
- Chase for updates and feedback.
- Communicating with client, meetings and discussions on all commercial aspects through the project, pre-starts, application reviews, final Accounts etc.
- Attending pre-start meetings, application reviews and final accounts.
- Forecasting project commercially. Looking at where projects are, what has been claimed to date, what is remaining and how that can be allocated to resources throughout the remainder of the project.
- Reporting projects and communicating within the business.
- Reviewing agreed rates for works, decide if additional rates are required, if rates need to increase etc.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks / civil engineering sector.
- Ability to manage own projects independently from pre-construction through to final accounts.
- Strong experience in take-offs, measurements, BOQ preparation and pricing.
- Demonstrated experience pricing variations and additional works.
- Competent in monthly applications for payment, valuations and cash flow forecasting.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to forecast project costs and profitability.
- Experience attending and contributing to pre-start meetings, application reviews and final account meetings.
- High attention to detail with a proactive and organised approach.
- Ability to travel to site and attend head office (ideal location within 1 hour of CV23).
