Design Assistant (Renewable Energy Systems)
The Opportunity
We are working with a specialist contractor within the renewable energy sector, delivering innovative heating and cooling solutions across the UK.
The business focuses on the design and installation of heat pump systems, including:
- Ground Source Heat Pumps
- Water Source Heat Pumps
- Air Source Heat Pumps
Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint a Junior Design Assistant to support their technical design team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their career to gain hands‑on experience within a fast‑growing and future‑focused industry.
The Role
Working alongside experienced engineers and designers, you will support the development of technical designs and project documentation for renewable energy systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the preparation of design drawings and layouts
- Supporting the design of heat pump and mechanical systems
- Producing technical documentation and project information
- Liaising with engineers, project managers, and installation teams
- Supporting project coordination from design through to delivery
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards and specifications
- Updating drawings and documentation as projects progress
About You
- A genuine interest in renewable energy and sustainability
- Some exposure to design, engineering, or construction environments (e.g. placement, internship, or junior role)
- Basic understanding of CAD software (AutoCAD or similar desirable)
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Proactive team player with a positive attitude
