Atrium Associates is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary MEP contractor delivering high-value mechanical and electrical installation and refurbishment projects. This role will operate across London, Essex, and Kent, with the initial project based at Canary Wharf, London. The first scheme is a £16m laboratory shell & core and fit-out project, working within a technically demanding and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full mechanical delivery of commercial and industrial projects, working closely with contractors, consultants, architects, and engineers to ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to a high professional standard. You will be working under the Mechanical Director and alongside an existing Electrical Project Manager, forming part of a strong and collaborative project leadership team. This opportunity would suit an established Mechanical Project Manager or Mechanical Contracts Manager, or a senior mechanical professional ready to step into a strategic role within a growing and reputable business.
Key Responsibilities- Manage mechanical projects from design through installation to final handover
- Take responsibility for laboratory, commercial, and industrial mechanical installations
- Oversee the mechanical delivery of a £16m shell & core / fit-out project at Canary Wharf then moving onto further projects
- Coordinate effectively with the Mechanical Director and Electrical Project Manager
- Ensure all works comply with building regulations, industry standards, and client specifications
- Produce and manage project-specific RAMS, ensuring strict health & safety compliance
- Manage direct labour and subcontractors, driving quality and productivity
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and public-sector stakeholders
- Provide technical and operational leadership to site and project teams
- Ensure projects are programmed, controlled, and delivered efficiently and commercially
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or Mechanical Contracts Manager
- Strong background in commercial and industrial mechanical installations
- Experience on shell & core and fit-out projects, ideally high-value schemes
- Public-sector project experience (education, healthcare, laboratories, or MOD preferred)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Solid understanding of health & safety legislation and best practice
- Strong commercial awareness and project control ability
- Ability to work independently while integrating into a senior management team
- Salary circa £75,000
