An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Risk Underwriting Team in Cardiff as the Manager of Analysts – Credit Specialties. This role allows you to work with a diverse team of analysts, specialising in the underwriting of non-cancellable limits covering both credit and political risk.

Location: Hybrid / Cardiff UK – local contract. Travel is a requirement.

Unit Description: Risk Services 4 encompasses UK, Ireland and Credit Specialties. The Atradius Group provides trade credit insurance, surety and collections services worldwide, and has a presence through 160 offices in 52 countries. The products offered by Atradius protect companies around the world against the default risks associated with selling goods and services on credit. The successful candidate will lead, develop and positively impact their team. The role requires a high level of technical underwriting skills alongside people management capabilities. An ability to focus on developing staff skills, ensuring wellbeing, providing guidance and undertaking performance reviews is therefore key. The successful candidate will contribute to departmental plans and allocate resources to ensure alignment with our loss ratio targets and commercial aspirations. They will be responsible for ensuring the teams work efficiently and effectively whilst also providing support to the Senior Manager. They will possess strong communication skills and will establish collaborative relationships with the Credit Specialties Unit and other key internal and external stakeholders. As a member of the RS4 management team, they will work in collaboration with other managers to drive performance and manage resource effectively.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates. The candidate will be employed in Cardiff on a local UK contract but we welcome applications from international candidates. This role may also be advertised externally. The Manager will report to Karen Evans (Senior Manager) and whilst the candidate may not currently be in a managerial role, they will be able to demonstrate that they possess managerial abilities. They will need to be a self-starter who can also work independently and under pressure. It is essential that the successful candidate is a strong communicator, and have an aptitude for relationship building and strong inter-personal skills. The Manager must be able to take on board and execute the risk strategies and to take a full part in discussing and developing these with the Senior Management.

The manager shall:

  • Be an open and able communicator both internally and externally.
  • Have the ability to clearly, and confidently communicate difficult decisions internally and externally at all levels of seniority.
  • Have demonstrated negotiation skills, with the confidence to challenge, and the ability to offer creative solutions.
  • Have underwriting experience and be able to comfortably explain technical transactions.
  • Have strong organisational skills.
  • Have the ability to anticipate problems and issues and proposals to counter them.
  • Have the confidence to make high value decisions and judgment to know when to consult.
  • Be a good listener and team player.
