Role Overview

The role requires a DevOps engineer with experience in both technical and IT operations, working on customer projects.

About Practice

  • Diverse project exposure – working across a variety of industries and business contexts, starting with Defra, for continuous learning and innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current technology utilized within customer contracts and develop steps and processes to improve and expand upon them.
  • Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure.
  • Understand stakeholder needs and convey them to developers.
  • Automate and improve development and release processes.
  • Test and examine code written by others, analyze results.
  • Ensure systems are secure against cybersecurity threats.
  • Identify technical problems and develop software updates and fixes.
  • Work with software developers and engineers to ensure development follows established processes and works as intended.
  • Establish milestones for contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate collaboration.
  • Work closely with engineering professionals to maintain cloud infrastructure and platform services for project completion.
  • Mentor and train other engineers and continually improve processes.

Requirements

  • Experience in DevOps engineering for large enterprises or public sector.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of programming languages.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Clear understanding of DevOps and Agile principles.
  • Current understanding of best practices regarding system security measures.
  • Experience in AWS or Microsoft Azure Cloud platforms.
  • Experience in containerised environments (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience with software engineering and customer experience.
  • Experience working with cross‑department teams.
  • Demonstrated project development and leadership skills.
  • UK Security Clearance (SC) required.
  • Azure DevOps (ADO), ARM templates, CI/CD pipelines, YAML, Git, Terraform, Terragrunt, Ansible, Jenkins, Azure Networking, AWS role requirements, etc.

Education & Experience

At least 3+ years in engineering, architecture, or operational role delivering cloud services. Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Applications, Engineering, or a related field.
