Location: Coulport, near Helensburgh (Scotland – 20 minutes north of Helensburgh).
Package: £70,000 (dependent on experience and suitability for the role).
Working pattern: Monday – Thursday (core hours).
As the Planning & Logistics Principal you’ll oversee the Strategic Weapon Systems programme, planning, logistics, and warehousing functions, all in support of ABL SWS operations and TSA support functions. You’ll also provide the primary AWE customer interface at a programme level to ensure due diligence prior to any task acceptance and monitoring performance.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities- Oversee programme planning, resource allocation, task delivery and performance monitoring to ensure delivery of the Coulport Integrated Operational Plan and further integration of the planning function across warhead life‑cycles.
- Accountable to ensure that the planning team delivers all required planning and programme management services as required by the Strategic Weapon System contract.
- Line‑manage the SWS Planning, Logistic, Warehousing teams and TSA support functions.
- Accountable for the provision of the Planning and SWS Logistics support necessary to ensure the safe processing, storage, and handling for Assemblies and associated components.
- Accountable for highlighting and reporting to line manager any issues or potential risks, delays or changes to the SWS Programme which could impact production and operational programmes.
- Accountable for the application of Safety, Health, Security, Quality, Compliance, Legislative requirements, internal procedures and processes within area of control.
- Control and manage the availability of equipment and spares to meet the programme requirements.
- Manage and control the Production Operations Programme Integrated Plan.
- Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to ensure communication and agreement of programme requirements.
- Provide formal weekly delivery performance and risk statements to the Resident Director and the customer.
- Support TU and workforce engagement and communications within areas of responsibility, if required.
- Produce and agree annual business plan budgets and targets; monitor business plan performance and drive continuous improvement activities within areas of responsibility.
- Lead and drive performance improvements, innovation, change and demonstration of value for money.
- 266 hours of annual leave.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to work shifts covering 24/7 and overtime, including weekends, so it is essential that you are flexible on working hours.
RequirementsYou will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role – this will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work means you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV clearance.
