Job Summary
We are looking for Maintenance Technicians to support plant, equipment and facilities at AWE.
The role involves preventative maintenance, fault finding, repairs and equipment improvements, helping to maximise operational performance and availability.
Location
RG7 4PR & RG30 3RR (Aldermaston & Burghfield), located between Reading and Basingstoke with free onsite parking.
Contract & Working Pattern
Full‑time, 9‑day working fortnight. Flexible working requests considered.
Salary
£36,800 - £40,000 depending on suitability, qualifications & level of experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline as a minimum.
- Completed engineering apprenticeship and relevant engineering/maintenance experience.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems.
- Good problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills.
- The ability to work safely and follow maintenance procedures.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- Maintenance within a manufacturing, industrial, utilities, facilities or engineering environment.
- Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic systems.
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
- Using maintenance management systems and recording maintenance activities.
- Working within Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality (EHSSQ) requirements.
- Supporting continuous improvement activities and equipment reliability initiatives.

- Security Clearance and Working Conditions
You must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role.
Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home, and the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE.
In order to apply, you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years for SC clearance and 10 years for DV clearance.
The role will be funded and supported by AWE.
