AWE is now recruiting construction‐focused Senior Project Managers and Project Managers to lead and deliver complex nuclear construction projects, taking ownership of high‐value, mission‐critical work that demands effective leadership, robust governance and the ability to operate confidently in a highly regulated environment.

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application. These are site-based roles, with hybrid options available, subject to demand & project needs.

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER – Salary from £70,000 (depending on suitability, qualifications & level of experience)

  • Lead complex construction and nuclear projects with robust governance, safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Deliver to strict time, cost, quality and safety targets while supporting AWE’s mission.
  • Develop and motivate project leaders and cross‐functional teams.
  • Maintain high standards in safety, security, environmental performance and quality.
  • Influence across functions to shape and deliver operational plans.
  • Provide clear, accurate project performance reporting to senior leadership.
  • Ensure alignment with WADs, requirements, sanctioned artefacts and the PMB.
  • Apply proven NEC3/4 project delivery experience.
  • Manage people, budgets and equipment effectively, balancing workload and priorities.
  • Hold teams accountable for delivery and performance.
  • Lead risk, change and opportunity management to maintain control and maximise value.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project delivery.

We’d welcome applications from those with:

  • Proven leadership experience, within infrastructure sector, guiding project managers and cross‐functional teams in complex environments while motivating people, building morale and translating strategy into practical delivery plans.
  • Expertise in delivering CDM construction projects across major infrastructure, industrial builds, modular construction and refurbishments, supported by a relevant construction‐related qualification.
  • Solid technical capability, including Earned Value Management, interpreting schedules, data and technical drawings and using analysis to inform decisions.
  • Ability to build effective internal and external relationships, understand stakeholder needs and turn them into actionable plans.

PROJECT MANAGER – Salary from £50,000 (depending on suitability, qualifications & level of experience)

  • Deliver end‐to‐end projects and programmes, from initiation and planning through to completion and operational handover.
  • Drive accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Embed health, safety and environmental standards, supporting AWE’s sustainability and carbon‐reduction goals.
  • Define project scope and delivery plans, managing cost, schedule and quality to meet objectives.
  • Apply robust governance, maintain performance baselines, produce clear reporting and manage risks and opportunities.
  • Manage suppliers and delivery partners, ensuring contract compliance and value‐for‐money outcomes.
  • Engage stakeholders across leadership, regulators and operations to maintain alignment and clear communication.
  • Support team development, encouraging learning, growth and a positive project culture.

We’d welcome applications from those with:

  • Recognised project management capability, within infrastructure sector, supported by qualifications such as APM, PMP or PRINCE2.
  • Track record delivering multiple complex, high‐value, cross‐functional projects.
  • Able to build stakeholder relationships at all levels and translate needs into clear, actionable plans.
  • Strengths in maintaining project documentation, plans and RAIDs, tracking deliverables through KPIs and producing clear progress reports.
  • Expertise in risk management, governance and change control, including stage‐gate processes, alongside commercial awareness focused on value, compliance and successful delivery.
