Let us introduce the role: The Group Leader Engineering (Delivery) reports directly to the Head of Engineering for our Production and Assets team, a group of approximately 1000 employees, and through them into the Executive Director for Engineering at AWE. Within this role, you will be accountable for the delivery, performance and quality within your area, implementing the overall engineering strategy and holding delegated design authority. This is a pivotal role which will combine your technical and leadership ability with the experience to deliver strategic goals and objectives. You will need gravitas, resilience and passion to engage with and influence those at the most senior levels to deliver our programmes of work from cradle to grave.
Key Accountabilities:
- Key member of the Delivery Unit Leadership Team in establishing and delivering a holistic strategy including the supply chain that improves efficiency, effectiveness and quality to ensure fit for purpose engineering solutions are deployed.
- Lead engagement with Supply Chain to generate, manage and oversee maintenance contracts including technical requirements documents (TRD's).
- Leadership of the engineering activities and governance across the Delivery Unit portfolio to time, quality, and cost.
- Work with Head of Engineering Delivery to ensure the engineering demand plan for the delivery unit is realistic and deliverable.
- Accountable for the task management and performance management of embedded engineers and provide input and support to the Head of Engineering for areas such as recruitment and training.
- Accountable for providing information to support the Head of Engineering Delivery on task-based staff performance.
- Provide inspirational leadership to multi-disciplinary teams with diverse skills and experience to further strengthen high performing teams.
- Act as the Senior Accountable Design Authority.
- Lead engineering regulatory interfaces to ensure Engineering solutions meet associated regulatory requirements.

- Proven track record of driving delivery, continuous improvement and sustained performance focusing on the engineering strategy, technical direction and overall capability including people, process & technology & safety.
- Ability to direct high performing and motivated engineering teams to embrace diversity of thought and constructively challenge people's behaviour and work methodologies.
- Ability to provide thought leadership and drive innovation for first of a kind standardisation across the engineering solution.
- Proven record engaging with and management of Supply Chain contracts including TRD's.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage and lead people through transformation and change.
- Experience, leading by example, with regards to positive behaviours and safety culture.
- Experience collaborating with external stakeholders and organisations to positively raise the profile of AWE.
- Financial awareness and management of budgets.
