Our client is a leading distributor of Resins and associated products to the Adhesives, Sealants, Coatings and Construction markets. They are now seeking a Business Development Manager Chemicals. This position is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Managing Director, joining a small, proactive and fast-paced team. This position will be field/home based and location within the UK is flexible. The role will require regular contact and visits to customers in the UK as well as occasional visits to their offices.
Please note our client is seeking a Business Development Manager AND Business Manager within the division with similar responsibilities. Therefore, we will consider applications for candidates who are at different levels for either role.
Job Purpose
This role is technical as well as commercial, assisting the Sales Director, who is responsible for a wide array of products to Global clients. The aim is to grow the already successful business by looking at new customer sectors and principal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and developing current customers, achieving budget for growth and profit.
- Assisting customers with solution-based sales.
- Expanding the current department focusing on new customer sectors and principal development.
- Supporting principles and customers with extensive technical understanding and experience in this sector. Attention to detail is essential.
- Assisting with exhibitions and with sales enquiries from clients.
- Raising purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers and sourcing.
- Ensuring correct process and documentation is provided for customers including shipping and order processing.
- Working with all stakeholders in the wider team taking full responsibility ensuring margins and sales are maintained.
- Actioning and remedying non-conformances when they arise.
- Reporting to Sales Director and broader team on margins, analysis, projects and market trends.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educated to BSc level (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Proven track record and experience in the Chemical Industry.
- Ideally technical and commercial experience of Resins and CASE products to the sector.
- Experience of working with ERP systems (SAP is desirable) and business intelligence software.
- Excellent communication skills - essential.
- Full driving licence.
