Our client is a fast-growing multi-sector speciality distributor of chemicals and raw materials to the UK Manufacturing Industry. They are now seeking a Maintenance Engineer - Shift. This position is site-based in Redditch, Worcestershire across three sites and may require working shift patterns during weekdays where required. It is a full-time permanent role reporting to the Facilities Engineer.
Job Purpose
To support the Facilities Engineer with maintenance task administration and documentation, liaising with internal and external stakeholders on spare part sourcing and procurement, service and calibration schedules, setting the preventative maintenance calendar, operating the enterprise resource platform used for asset management, tracking key metrics and producing periodic reports, to reduce downtime and maintain efficiency and capacity of facilities and processes, via a combination of proactive and reactive approaches (Total Productive Maintenance / Troubleshooting). The role holder will hold fundamental practical maintenance skills to assist the Facilities Engineer in periods of high demand and as a stand-in during leave. The role holder will be able to develop instruction manuals, provide reports on work carried out and ensure that equipment records are kept up to date. They will also be able to read engineering drawings to identify issues and opportunities. The role requires significant drive and sense of process ownership to be able to work strategically and systematically as well as react promptly to any breakdowns, communicating with the Manufacturing Services Manager and working efficiently to resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance administration, scheduling, documentation, procurement, metric tracking, internal and external communication.
- Responsible for managing the Maintenance Store.
- Assist Facilities Engineer on preventative maintenance on machinery and responding to reactive equipment demands.
Qualifications and Experience
- Apprenticeship trained, qualified to a HNC or HND level, or have equivalent experience.
- Maintenance experience with light manufacturing machines ideally with food or pharmaceutical equipment.
- Ability to document processes for equipment and write operating instructions.
- Troubleshooting experience to resolve pressing in-process issues with equipment.
- Experience with innovation via in-process trial and hands-on learning.
- Experience maintaining a wide range of equipment.
- Experience with setting up liquid and powder filling machines, labelling machines, conveyors would be advantageous.
- Exposure to highly regulated environment is advantageous.

In return, our client is offering a basic salary of around £30,000 per annum plus benefits (salary is very negotiable and dependent on experience).
