Our client is a fast-growing multi sector speciality distributor of chemicals and raw materials to the UK Manufacturing Industry. They are now seeking a Process Lead Manufacturing. This position is site based in Redditch, Worcestershire and is a full-time permanent role working on a shift basis (Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day between the hours of 6am to 10pm) reporting to the Manufacturing Manager.

Job Purpose

Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing processing operations with respect to processing, stock management and health & safety requirements and support other functions within the warehouse and across the three manufacturing sites. Work with the Manufacturing Manager or Warehousing Manager to ensure all processing support for our client are met. Support the clients facilities to develop the capabilities for food and chemical processing and laboratory formulation activities. Deputise for the Manufacturing Manager or Warehouse Manager in their absence, with regards to manufacturing and warehousing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee production processes implementing the correct regulatory framework.
  • Manage stock levels in conjunction with the BSC.
  • Carry out cleaning activities to maintain a high standard of Food, GMP and general warehouse hygiene.
  • Write and review procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Support all processing activities.
  • Assist in the planning production time to ensure customer needs are maintained and resource is allocated.
  • Check finished records to ensure right first-time compliance.
  • Manage warehouse and stock movements.
  • Produce weekly and monthly stock reports directly relating to food and chemical processing activities.
  • Ensure all packaging is available when needed.
  • Facilitate stock audits.
  • Record and maintain BRC and MHRA work instructions.
  • Re-order consumables.
  • Liaise with QRESH and H&S to maintain standards of Quality Management processes; health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.

Goods Dispatch

  • Arrange transport for finished goods including deliveries and collections.
  • Liaise with customers and hauliers to arrange collections, deliveries and maintain detailed records of these transactions in conjunction with BSC.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure correct handling of materials.
  • Check MSDS for hazardous information to relay to appropriate staff.
  • Ensure excellent food safety standards are met at all times.
  • Safe loading & unloading of materials and finished goods.
  • Raise near miss and incident reports.
  • Apply strict segregation rules for the storage of foodstuffs from chemicals.
  • Identify locations of raw materials and finished products.
  • Check receipt of orders against purchase order.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Manufacturing or warehousing experience to BRC, GMP or similar industry standards.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, particularly with respect to weights and measures.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Professional telephone manner.
  • COSHH and Risk Assessments.
  • Hold own driving license to allow flexibility to drive between sites when needed.
  • A Forklift Truck qualification and valid license (desirable).
  • Knowledge of handling chemicals, as would a qualification in labelling and packing in accordance with IATA and ADR Regulations, although training will be provided (desirable).
  • Operating within a warehouse environment (desirable).
  • Experience within a customer service environment (desirable).
