Our Client is a speciality supplier and manufacturer of raw materials to the UK Chemical, Food & Pharmaceutical Industries. They are now seeking an Operations / Manufacturing Manager. This position will be based in Redditch, Worcestershire. The position is a full-time permanent role.
Job Purpose
Manage multi manufacturing sites; a site specialising in food supplements, personal care and pharma products, FSSC22000, BRC GMP, GDP and Chemical production facility and a warehouse operation for specialities. Develop manufacturing capability for new processes. Responsible for H, S, E & Q compliance of manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing
- Management of an agile manufacturing and facilities maintenance team
- Develop the production plan & schedule. Maintain equipment pre-emptively, develop and write SOPs
- Assure regulatory compliance with BRC, GMP and chemical regulations
- Participate in a dedicated team for new manufacturing processes
- Transfer processes from R&D to manufacturing. Collaborate with the QRESH & Innovation team
- Lead capital investment for processing equipment and commissioning project plans in compliance with regulatory standards
- Oversee cleaning and sanitation, waste management within the sites. Support with HACCP / TACCP / VACCP plans
- Work with the Warehouse Manager to operate a speciality warehousing operation
- Repacking and re-labelling of goods. Transport arrangements
- Goods dispatch
- Responsible for operations Risk Assessment
- Responsible for COSHH assessment. Ensuring correct handling
- Checking MSDS for hazardous information to relay to appropriate staff
- Producing DGN where necessary
- Safe unloading of raw materials
- Safe mapping of chemicals and ingredients, applying segregation rules for the storage of chemicals and ingredients
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Food manufacturing background / Leadership experience in a BRC or GMP manufacturing, or equivalent highly regulated operation
- Clear written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail, particularly with respect to weights and measures
- Ability to give and follow instructions in adherence to strict deadlines
- Thriving under pressure, at ease in a fast-paced environment
- Enthusiastic towards change and under agile and fast-evolving circumstances
- Good strategic decision-making as well as firm and swift decision-making when required, driven to success, self-motivated and proactively engaging stakeholders towards achieving end goals
- Good proficiency in MS Office package, professional telephone manner
- Experience within a customer service environment
Desirable
- Chemical Engineering or Chemical Processing qualification / background
- A Forklift Truck qualification and valid license
- Knowledge of handling chemicals, as would a qualification in labelling and packing in accordance with IATA and ADR Regulations, although training will be provided
- COSHH (further training will be provided)
- GMP Pharmaceutical operational experience or BRC food manufacturing operational experience
- Chemical manufacturing operational experience
