The Technology team has end to end responsibility for all aspects of our Technology, from architecting the future, engineering solutions, and design, implementation of security requirements across internal projects and security operations.

The role holder is a key member of the Security Operations team to protect, detect, respond and recover to Atom’s customers, brand, people and reputation. And be an advocate of best‑in‑class security practice influencing at all levels, providing practical advice and guidance and remaining approachable to all of Atom’s people. The role holder is a key member of the Security team, responsible for protecting Atom and its customers, staying ahead of evolving threats and ensuring regulatory compliance. A critical thinker, collaborative and thrives in a fast‑paced environment to make a tangible impact.

The role holder will spend a significant amount of time with the Atom AI and Automation team to develop and deploy solutions that enable Atom to deliver faster and better value banking to customers.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, implement and manage secure cloud architectures (AWS, Azure or GCP) whilst developing and enforcing security standards and best practices for cloud infrastructure.
  • Implement advanced monitoring tools to detect, analyse and respond to security threats in real‑time.
  • Proactively identify vulnerabilities and risks through regular assessments and penetration testing and lead incident response efforts for cloud‑related security breaches, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.
  • Develop automated workflows for vulnerability management, incident detection and response.
  • Align security measures with financial regulations such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2 and GDPR.
  • Support Atom’s AI team with AI and Automation specific infrastructure security needs.
  • Partner with DevOps and engineering teams to integrate security into the CI/CD pipeline and work cross‑functionally with other teams to ensure shared understanding of security goals.

What do we need from you?

  • Deep expertise in securing cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with a focus on financial services.
  • Proven experience with tools like SIEM, SOAR, IDS/IPS and cloud‑native security solutions.
  • Strong understanding of encryption protocols, key management systems and IAM best practices.
  • Hands‑on experience with container security tools for Kubernetes and Docker environments.
  • Advanced scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate and implement compliance frameworks such as PCI DSS, GDPR, SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
  • Familiarity with financial industry‑specific security and privacy standards.
  • Relevant Security certifications (e.g. CISSP, SSCP, CCSM, CISM, etc.).
  • Relevant public‑cloud certifications (e.g. GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer Specialty, Azure Security Engineer Associate or AWS Certified Security Specialty).
