We are hiring for an experienced HR Business Partner - Employee Relations (ER) & TUPE to lead our Group-wide Employee Relations and TUPE service, providing expert, commercially focused advice while ensuring strong governance, compliance, and risk management across the business. This is a hybrid role, with the successful candidate expected to work from our Datchet office on a regular basis throughout the week, alongside home working, to support effective collaboration with colleagues and key stakeholders.
As part of the wider HR Business Partner team, you will work closely with divisional HR Business Partners and senior operational leaders to deliver a consistent and effective approach to employee relations, organisational change, and TUPE activity across the Group. You will provide specialist expertise, support business leaders in making values-led decisions, and act as the senior escalation point for complex and high-risk employee relations matters.
You will lead the Employee Relations and TUPE teams, taking responsibility for service quality, workload management, team development, governance, and outcomes. This includes overseeing disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, performance, discrimination, whistleblowing, Early Conciliation, and Employment Tribunal cases, ensuring all matters are managed in line with employment law, business requirements, and best practice.
The role will be instrumental in supporting organisational change programmes, including restructures, redundancy exercises, contract mobilisations and demobilisations, acquisitions, and TUPE transfers. You will lead and oversee inbound and outbound TUPE activity, ensuring legal compliance, effective consultation, robust due diligence, accurate employee liability information, and a positive employee experience throughout the transfer process.
Working collaboratively with operational leaders, clients, mobilisation teams, legal advisers, ACAS, and trade union representatives where applicable, you will provide expert guidance on workforce risk, consultation, employee engagement, and change management. You will identify emerging trends and risks through case analysis and reporting, implementing preventative solutions and driving continuous improvement across employee relations and TUPE practices.
You will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of governance and compliance, ensuring the consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation across the Group. In addition, you will lead improvements to ER and TUPE processes, policies, templates, and management guidance, contribute to HR strategy and people-focused projects, and build capability across HR and operational teams through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing.
This is a highly visible leadership role that offers the opportunity to influence people strategy, support complex business change, and drive excellence in employee relations and TUPE delivery across the organisation.
We're looking for an experienced HR professional with proven experience operating at HR Business Partner or senior Employee Relations level within a complex, operational environment. You will have extensive employee relations expertise, including the management and oversight of complex, sensitive, and high-risk cases, alongside strong practical experience of TUPE transfers, restructures, redundancy programmes, and organisational change.
You will possess up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law, ACAS guidance, and HR best practice, with the ability to provide clear, commercially focused advice to senior operational stakeholders. You will be comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery and have a proven track record of leading, coaching, and developing teams within a high-volume, multi-site environment.
Strong communication, influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills are essential, together with excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to exercise sound judgement under pressure. You will also be confident using Microsoft 365, HR systems, and people data to support decision-making and drive positive outcomes.
Ideally, you will have experience within facilities management, cleaning, security, or similar service-led sectors. Experience working in unionised environments, supporting collective consultation processes, and contributing to tender support, mobilisation, demobilisation, or acquisition activity would also be advantageous. A CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 qualification, or equivalent professional experience, is desirable.
To be successful in this role, you will act with integrity, professionalism, and sound judgement, providing balanced, fair, and empathetic advice while maintaining appropriate challenge. You will prioritise safety, dignity, and respect in all people practices, take ownership for delivering results, share knowledge with others, and focus on turning decisions into action.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Basic DBS Check. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates; however, please be aware that we are unable to sponsor work visas. All applicants must have an existing legal right to work in the UK.
