Lead Mechanical Engineer | £46,000–£48,000 | London-Based | Higher Education Environment\\n\\nAre you a skilled mechanical engineer ready to take the lead on a high-profile site? We’re looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our team, delivering top-tier planned and reactive maintenance services within a prestigious university environment.\\n\\n📍 Location: London\\n💰 Salary: £46,000–£48,000\\n🏛️ Sector: Higher Education\\n📅 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent\\n\\n🔧 About the Role\\n\\nAs the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the efficient delivery of all mechanical PPM and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual SLAs. You’ll also oversee the implementation of AWSL policies and manage permit-to-work systems on site.\\n\\nThis is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to service delivery.\\n\\n🛠️ Key Responsibilities\\n\\n * Lead the delivery of mechanical PPM and minor works across the site.\\n\\n * Ensure compliance with AWSL safety rules, policies, and permit systems.\\n\\n * Provide technical support and guidance to the team and client.\\n\\n * Maintain and update the Maximo CAFM system via tablet.\\n\\n * Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors, and account support to ensure high-quality service.\\n\\n * Monitor performance and report to the Area Manager.\\n\\n * Ensure safe working practices, including LOTO procedures and risk assessments.\\n\\n * Support quoting processes for minor works and manage materials/resources efficiently.\\n\\n * Participate in the on-call rota and manage contractor escorts and permits.\\n\\n✅ What We’re Looking For\\n\\nQualifications & Training:\\n\\n * NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Building Services (essential)\\n\\n * Legionella (L8) trained and competent\\n\\n * Apprentice-trained in M&E discipline (desirable)\\n\\n * City & Guilds 18th Edition (desirable)\\n\\n * Base knowledge of gas and FGAS systems (desirable)\\n\\nSkills & Experience:\\n\\n * Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role across multi-site environments\\n\\n * Strong understanding of HVAC, BMS, and mechanical systems\\n\\n * Experience using CAFM systems (e.g.
