We are seeking a skilled Commercial Plumber to join our growing team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of commercial sites, delivering high-quality plumbing and maintenance services.
This role is for a mechanically biased Plumbing Maintenance Engineer who is competent to deliver high quality maintenance and reactive repairs across multiple disciplines. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in delivering multiple work types commonly found within the FM environment to a high standard, such as the following:
- Install, repair, and maintain pipework for hot water, cold water, heating, and drainage systems.
- Install and maintain valves such as isolation valves, TMVs, PRVs, NRVs, and drain cocks.
- Install and maintain pumps including circulation pumps and booster set connections.
- Service and maintain hot water systems including calorifiers, POU heaters, and unvented cylinders.
- Install and maintain sanitaryware such as toilets, basins, urinals, showers, traps, and flush systems.
- Connect mechanical plant on the water side (e.g., AHUs, FCUs, heat pumps, boilers).
- Perform routine system checks such as temperature readings, pressure checks, and flow verification.
- Assist with water hygiene and treatment tasks such as dosing pot maintenance, descaling, flushing, and basic legionella compliance checks.
- Install and maintain expansion vessels including pre charge checks and replacement.
- Carry out minor mechanical repairs such as replacing seals, washers, gaskets, and unions.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest standards and Atlas Workplace Services competencies are delivered and demonstrated.
- Deliver Portfolio PPM and minor works.
- Ensure the Client, Customer and Team are kept in the loop through feedback and regular updates.
- Contribute to the delivery of a quality service, aiming for 100% satisfaction of the Customer.
- Provide technical support, advice and guidance to the Customer and Team.
- Ensure best value for money to the Client by ensuring accuracy within the Team by checking resource and materials are suitable to effectively deliver the service.
- Ensure safe delivery of all Atlas Workplace Services works, including those of our service partners.
- Produce details of time and materials required for any minor works for quoting purposes.
- Liaise with Account co-ordinators, Schedulers, Management, and Sub-Contractors to deliver work to the highest standard within SLA, as required.
- Build and foster relationships with the Client, Customer, other Atlas Workplace Services colleagues.
- Ensure Maximo system is constantly updated via your issued tablet and that all time is accounted for on the generated timesheet.
- Take ownership of the standard of work delivered ensuring exceptional service to the customer.
- Cover all call out responsibilities out of hours when rostered.
Minimum Qualifications, Certifications and Training required
- GCSE in English and Maths or Equivalent.
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing, HVAC or Building services.
- Legionella (L8) trained and competent.
- Hot Water Systems and Safety (HWSS) – G3 Unvented (Desirable).
- City & Guilds TMV Service, Commissioning & Maintenance (Desirable).
- Accredited Health and Safety qualification e.g. IOSH Working Safely or equivalent (Desirable).
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience for this role
- 1 years’ experience in customer facing outsourcing environment.
- Strong, demonstrable competencies of dealing with building services plant.
- Knowledge and experience operating and adjusting Building Management Systems (BMS) (Desirable).
- Knowledge and experience of working on mechanical water systems.
- 2 years previous experience within similar environment and in particular across area multi sites and multi discipline service delivery.
- Background in mobile engineering/property maintenance (Desirable).
- Experience of working with asset/work management systems such as MAXIMO / CAFM systems on smartphones.
- Ability to manage priorities in line with business needs.
- Ability to turn hand to most activities within a building maintenance environment.
