Armourer Trainer / Weapons Trainer
Lyneham – £39,000
Full-time / Permanent
My client is seeking a skilled Armourer Trainer to join their team at MOD Lyneham. This is an excellent opportunity for ex-military armourers to pass on their expertise and play a key role in shaping the next generation of Army engineers.
The role
You’ll draw on your armourer background to train Army apprentices in the maintenance, repair and modification of weapons. Initially, you’ll use your technical expertise to strip, assemble, fault-find and maintain Army weapons, while completing teacher training leading to a Level 4 teaching qualification.
Once qualified, you’ll:
- Deliver classroom and practical training modules on weapon systems.
- Create exams, tests and assessment scenarios.
- Guide students through their development with feedback, appraisal and mentoring.
- Support course design and help produce training materials.
- Maintain discipline and ensure safe working practices at all times.
About you
This role is ideal for former REME Armourers, Navy Weapons Engineers, RAF Armourers, or Police Armourers. You’ll bring:
- Proven armourer experience and solid craft skills.
- A Level 3 Engineering qualification or significant hands-on weapons/armaments experience.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills with the ability to motivate trainees.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to gain formal teaching qualifications while in post.
