SumUp is building a full-featured personal account for consumers across Europe—making it easy to spend globally, manage money, and get rewarded for everyday spending. As our dedicated People Partner for SumUp Pay, you'll work closely with the Tribe Lead and senior leaders to build and execute a people agenda that's genuinely fit for an incubation-stage team, not a copy‑paste of company‑wide processes. This is a rare opportunity to shape how a fast‑moving, high‑priority team hires, develops, and grows its people from the ground up, with real ownership and direct influence from day one.

What you’ll do

  • Design and implement a people strategy for the Consumer tribe that covers engagement, career development, manager capability, and workforce planning — tailored to where the team is today and where it’s heading.
  • Adapt existing SumUp people programmes (including leadership development and career frameworks) to fit the team’s current size, pace, and stage.
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to keep SumUp Pay’s hiring plan on track setting cadence, unblocking issues, tracking metrics, and reporting progress back to leaders.
  • Act as the trusted go‑to person for people decisions across the tribe, supporting leaders with performance, development, and team health.
  • Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve and scale key people processes. We expect this person to experiment, iterate, and bring new ways of working to the team.

You’ll be great for this role if…

  • Experience working as a People Partner or HRBP in a fast‑growing organisation, with a track record of balancing strategic thinking with hands‑on execution.
  • Strong knowledge of talent and performance management processes, career development frameworks, and employment law, particularly across the UK.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility quickly with senior stakeholders, and to influence decisions without direct authority.
  • Comfort adapting company‑wide programmes to fit a smaller, fast‑moving team — knowing when to follow the playbook and when to write a new one.
  • Proactive in spotting people’s risks before they become problems, with the analytical thinking to back up recommendations with data.

Why you should join SumUp

  • Opportunity to work with a truly global, multicultural team from our central Covent Garden location, wrapped in historic charm and modern flair. This involves an office‑first setup.
  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: be part of a workplace that values and promotes diversity, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone’s perspectives are respected and embraced.
  • Enrolment onto our Virtual Stock Option programme: you will own a stake in SumUp's future success.
  • Generous time off: enjoy 28 days of paid leave, plus bank holidays and special leaves.
  • A dedicated annual L&D budget for attending conferences and/or advancing your career through further education.
  • Health matters: private health insurance, including optical and dental.
  • Life made easier: salary‑sacrifice commuter benefits via Gogeta.
  • Financial security: retirement scheme (SumUp matches 7% when you contribute 5%).
  • Peace of mind: life insurance from MetLife for 2× your salary.
  • Break4me: 1‑month sabbatical after 3 years of service.
  • Referral Bonus: earn additional rewards by referring talented individuals to join the SumUp team.
