Your role as a Senior Product Cost Engineer - Sustaining involves identifying cost-reduction opportunities and designing, validating, and implementing engineering changes to mechanical and/or electrical components to deliver realised cost savings while maintaining required standards for safety, performance, quality, and compliance.

You will:

  • Deliver released engineering design changes that reduce the cost of Edwards products and components (mechanical and/or electrical) while maintaining required standards for safety, performance, quality, and compliance.
  • Identify and convert cost reduction opportunities across mechanical and electrical components into implemented engineering solutions, resulting in released changes and realised savings.
  • Own the engineering design output for assigned cost reduction initiatives, producing the required models, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials to enable manufacture and release.
  • Demonstrate that lower cost mechanical or electrical solutions are acceptable replacements for existing designs through appropriate analysis, testing, trials, and validation.
  • Enable successful implementation of cost reduction changes into production by working with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and external suppliers to ensure solutions are robust, manufacturable, and repeatable.
  • Address design driven cost drivers in collaboration with Supply Chain, ensuring engineering decisions appropriately reflect supplier capability, manufacturing processes, and sourcing options.
  • Maintain engineering accountability for risk, reliability, and compliance associated with cost reduction changes, ensuring savings are achieved without introducing unacceptable technical, safety, or operational risk.

To succeed, you will need:

  • Engineering Degree Bachelors (minimum, essential), Masters (desirable), or demonstrable equivalent.
  • Registered Chartered Engineer, or working towards and committed to achieving registration with a recognised engineering institution (desirable).
  • Experience delivering hands-on engineering design changes to products or components in a manufacturing or product-based environment, including designing, validating, and releasing engineering changes (Essential).
  • Experience identifying and implementing cost-reduction or value-engineering opportunities through practical engineering solutions (Essential).
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing teams and suppliers to implement engineering changes into production (Essential).
  • Strong practical engineering capability with the ability to design, modify, and release mechanical and/or electrical components (Essential).
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills when working across Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers (Essential).
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for technical discussions and engineering change justification (Essential).
