Your role as a Lead Engineer – NPI & Engineering is to be part of our Semiconductor Service Divisional Engineering team, reporting to the Head of Design for Service Programmes. In this role, your mission is to embed serviceability into new product development, ensuring our products are designed with field performance, lifecycle cost and customer experience in mind. You will contribute directly to how we create high-quality products and solutions for our customers.
You will play a key role in bringing the voice of Field Service into the product development process. Working closely with Product Company Clevedon, VSS Engineering and cross-functional teams, you will help ensure service requirements are built into new products from the earliest stages. This role will focus on Design for Serviceability, service readiness, continuous improvement and the development of safe, scalable field service tooling.
Your day-to-day:
- Lead the deployment of Design for Serviceability within new product development projects.
- Embed service requirements early in the product lifecycle, including concept, risk assessment and stage gate reviews.
- Act as the key link between Field Service, Product Company Engineering and NPI teams.
- Own service readiness governance and approve key service deliverables.
- Represent Field Service in design reviews, challenging and influencing decisions to improve serviceability.
- Use field feedback, reliability data and service insights to drive continuous product improvements.
Your skills and experience:
- Degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or a related discipline.
- Engineering experience, ideally within product development, service engineering or a technical field service environment.
- Strong technical understanding and ability to influence engineering design decisions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence working across different teams and levels.
- Ability to manage priorities, balance project demands and work effectively in a matrix environment.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships across Field Service, Engineering and Product teams.
- Experience with serviceability, product compliance, NPI processes or lifecycle engineering would be beneficial.
- Professional English language skills, both written and spoken.
