An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Compliance Engineer to join the Edwards team based at Product Company Eastbourne. Your mission is to manage the regulatory compliance roadmap for components and products designed and manufactured at Eastbourne PC. You will ensure the component compliant tools, regimes and processes are in place to prepare the business for all existing and up‑coming compliance legislation.
You will be involved in all stages of the electronics engineering lifecycle from the recommendation of new components early on in the design process to overseeing the testing and approval of replacement components as they reach End of Life. You will report to the Sustaining Manager.
Maintain awareness of product roadmaps and priorities in the Vacuum Technique Division as well as new NPI developments and their impact on component selection and potential legislation challenges. Maintain an awareness of the changing landscape for regulatory compliance for electronic products including relevant directives. Develop strategy to ensure we have a coordinated approach within Eastbourne PC as well as global Vacuum Technique Business Area (VTBA) towards RoHS, REACH, TSCA compliance as well as their global equivalents. This to include the latest legislation regarding PFAS.
Provide feedback to NPI engineers on the suitability of new components for new designs. Support the PCP process with updates as needed with a changing compliance landscape. Work with external 3rd parties and other partners within VTBA to outsource work and look for efficiencies where possible. Present out to the engineering team and other adjacent functions within Eastbourne PC as well as VTBA on latest stats regarding compliance. Highlight risks and issues and potential mitigating actions, developing action plans as needed. Create Declaration of Conformity (DofC) documentation for all new and existing Eastbourne PC designed products as required. Manage the SCIP database for all products that include components with any SVHC related concerns.
To succeed, you will need:
- Bachelor or Masters degree (or equivalent) in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of electronics design and the design trade-offs often required in component selection.
- Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English.
- Ability to make decisions based on a knowledge of the business and an understanding of the business impact.
- Experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry as well as a strong understanding of the electronics distributor markets.
- Some experience working in a global engineering environment in a multi-disciplinary design environment.
- Some knowledge of relevant directives for the Vacuum industry would be an advantage.
- Good understanding of the product development processes.
- Experience working with tools such as SAP and Silicon Expert would be an advantage.

Job location: On‑Site: This role requires you to work on-site at our office in Eastbourne, United Kingdom (GB). You will be part of a dynamic team and enjoy the benefits of face‑to‑face collaboration. There will be some need to travel to other Vacuum Technique sites and key suppliers as well as occasional customer facing travel.
