We are looking for a visionary Vice President Engineering for the Scientific Vacuum Division (SVD). In this role, you will lead the global engineering organization, driving innovation, quality, and operational excellence while fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and highâperforming culture. Your mission
As Vice President Engineering for the Scientific Vacuum Division, you will define and execute the global engineering strategy across brands, platforms, and regions. You will build a strong and sustainable product and technology pipeline with accelerated timeâtoâmarket, enabled by modular platforms, smart technologies, software, and connectivity. You will create an environment where people are proud to belong, innovation thrives, quality is nonânegotiable, and engineering excellence delivers real customer value.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead with purpose: Inspire, coach, and develop inclusive, highâperforming engineering leadership teams across multiple sites and regions. Foster collaboration, accountability, and a strong engineering culture.
- Drive engineering strategy: Define and execute the global engineering roadmap aligned with business goals, market needs, customer value, and factory efficiency.
- Innovate relentlessly: Drive disruptive innovation, digital enablement, and dataâdriven decisionâmaking across the product portfolio, including new architectures, platforms, and technologies.
- Own the product lifecycle: Oversee the full product development lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery of highâquality, compliant, and costâcompetitive solutions, including ensuring timely customer quality support.
- Champion quality & compliance: Embed quality, safety, regulatory compliance, and IP protection as core principles across all engineering activities.
- Enable operational excellence: Integrate designâforâmanufacturing, lean production, serviceability, logistics, leadâtime optimization, and preventative maintenance principles.
- Advance environmental sustainability: Coâown with the leadership team the integration of sustainability into technology development, driving energy efficiency, reduced emissions and utilities consumption, material and process optimization, and lifecycleâbased design across products and operations.
- Build strong partnerships: Collaborate closely with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Service to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
- Develop talent: Attract, mentor, and grow engineering talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning, inclusion, curiosity, and improvement.
- Represent engineering: Act as a key representative of the Scientific Vacuum Division in governance bodies, councils, and external engagements.
To succeed, you will need
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Significant experience in senior engineering leadership roles within complex, global, and multiâsite organizations.
- Proven experience in new product development and sustaining engineering for industrial equipment (vacuum technology experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and designâforâmanufacturing principles.
- Experience leading global, crossâfunctional teams and driving innovation through modular or platformâbased product design.
- Strong strategic thinking, collaboration, and communication skills in multicultural environments.
- A peopleâfocused leadership style with curiosity, openness to feedback, and a continuous learning mindset.
- Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
