As a Lead Mechanical Engineer - A&D, your mission is to primarily delivers best practice mechanical engineering of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and includes direct responsibility for leading a team of Engineers.

  • You will
  • Accountability for the technical delivery of mechanical engineering expertise to a project, incl. subsystems, and or technology developments.
  • Lead and guide 'Mechanical Engineering' activities across applicable projects, which may include leading and motivating a team of c.6 or so mechanical engineers if appropriate.
  • Advocate and lead the adoption of best practice mechanical engineering to improve the delivery of the engineering function to time, cost, quality and specification, whilst ensuring the appropriate level of effective technical governance is in place for safety, compliance, quality and reliability.
  • Devise and distribute work packages, often across multiple cross functional teams, guiding the project toward a successful passage through project milestones through to completion and volume production.
  • Ensure mechanical engineering of product development meets stakeholder and product requirements, and is compliant with relevant regulations, directives and standards, by design.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expertise in (a) relevant area(s) of the mechanical engineering of semiconductor equipment manufacturing, as a part of your professional development and towards achievement of Principal Engineer performance and to become recognised as an expert in that (those) area(s).

  • Engineering Degree Bachelors (minimum, essential ), Masters

(desirable), or demonstrable equivalent.

  • Registered Chartered Engineer, or working towards and committed to achieving registration with a recognised engineering institution
  • (desirable)
  • Substantial experience of mechanical engineering and design in a relatable engineering industry

(essential).

  • Experience and understanding of working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry
  • (essential) such as the semiconductor manufacturing equipment industry

(desirable) incl. strong understanding of product safety and compliance to applicable standards

(essential) . i. e. EN 61511; Safety and design review methods, e. g., PHA, HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA; Semiconductor industry standards – SEMI S2; Risk assessment – Semi S10.
