About the role
We are looking for an experienced and driven Network Consultant to join our team. This is a hands‑on senior role with responsibility for delivering and supporting robust, secure, and scalable networking solutions across a broad technology stack. You will manage projects from end to end, respond to critical incidents, advise customers, and act as an escalation point for the service desk by supporting network-related tickets. Your experience will span both traditional and modern networking, with the ability to work independently while also collaborating with technical and non‑technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver full lifecycle network projects: design, implementation, documentation, handover, and ongoing support.
- Provide 3rd line support and escalation for network issues—including root cause analysis and long‑term fixes.
- Perform and manage network configuration backups to ensure rapid recovery and compliance.
- Monitor and analyze network device logs for operational and security insights.
- Maintain and respond to network alerting systems to pre‑empt issues and reduce downtime.
- Maintain and support on‑premises and cloud‑based network infrastructure.
- Create and update technical documentation, including network diagrams, and support materials.
- Support cloud networking initiatives within Azure, including deployment of virtual firewalls and routers.
- Use network monitoring and configuration tools (SNMP, NetFlow, Syslog, etc.) to proactively maintain the environment.
- Ensure internal and customer‑facing networks meet performance, security, and reliability standards.
- Advise clients and stakeholders on networking best practices and improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ commercial experience in traditional networking (routing, switching, firewalls, security).
- In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, WAN/LAN, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.).
- Strong experience and comfort working with Cisco IOS CLI.
- Familiarity with a variety of networking vendors (Dell, HP, FortiGate, Ubiquiti, etc.).
- Proven experience working with:
- Cisco SD‑WAN
- Cisco FMC & Firepower Threat Defence (FTD)
- Cisco ASA Firewalls
- Cisco Meraki MX/Security Appliances
- Cisco Nexus & Catalyst Switches
- Familiarity with managing configuration backups, log analysis, and alerting tools.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues under pressure.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Self‑motivated and capable of delivering high‑quality work with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with Citrix NetScaler.
- Familiarity with Citrix SD‑WAN.
