Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Physiotherapist to join our Neurosurgery team temporarily. This role is ideal for a dedicated professional with a background in treating neurosurgical patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide physiotherapy to patients on an acute neurosurgical ward with 37 beds.
- Manage a diverse patient group, including those with traumatic and acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, major trauma, and tracheostomies.
- Deliver respiratory care, including suction and cough assist, given the acute nature of the patient group.
Team Structure:
- Collaborate with a team of a Band 6 Physiotherapist, a Band 5 Physiotherapist (rotational), and a Band 2 Physiotherapy Assistant.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) including Occupational Therapists (OT), Speech and Language Therapists (SALT), Rehabilitation Coordinators, Spinal Practitioners, and Nursing Staff.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience with neurosurgical patients.
- Strong clinical skills, at least Band 6 level or equivalent.
- Good communication skills and effective teamwork abilities.
- Preferred experience in respiratory care due to the nature of the patients.
