We need passionate and experienced mental health nurses to work in a well-established team at a Trust in the West Midlands.

Your role will be to act as the key nurse, assessing and planning nursing care requirements on a one-to-one basis. You will be the patient advocate, supporting family members and carers to be involved as required. You will work in accordance with SWFT Nursing Strategy and contribute to achieving SWFT strategic objectives. To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse or key worker for a defined patient, taking responsibility for:

  • Protecting and supporting the health of individual patients
  • Assessing care and health education needs
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care

Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a mental health setting
  • Knowledge and experience of adult safeguarding procedures
  • Restraint of patients using approved techniques
  • Handling patient valuables and storing them appropriately
  • Ability to deal with emotional and distressing situations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals
  • Ability to manage difficult situations
  • Ability to cope with exposure to aggressive behaviour
  • Ability to plan own workload
