We need passionate and experienced mental health nurses to work in a well-established team at an acute hospital in South East England, to assist and support general hospital colleagues in making decisions about treatment and care in complex situations.

Responsibilities:

  • Uphold our core values of promoting openness, transparency and learning.
  • Effectively run the shift and attend regular meetings to review and monitor patients' care plans.
  • Build relationships with patients to encourage trust, while listening to and interpreting their needs and concerns.
  • Ensure the correct administration of medication, including injections, and monitor side effects.
  • Accurately record patient information and communicate with other MDT staff regarding patient care needs.
  • Offer support and supervise the practice of junior staff and student nurses to ensure safe and effective nursing practice within a secure environment.
  • Perform administrative duties.
  • Involved in the screening, assessment and follow-up support of patients.
  • Provide care and support to patients and families and work effectively as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

  • Registered Nurse with current registration (mental health / LD / Adult) appropriate to the job role.
  • Child and Adult safeguarding procedures.
  • Change management, organising and prioritising workloads.
  • Demonstrate ability to enhance care through evidence-based knowledge.
  • Demonstrate professional development relevant to the care group.
  • Demonstrates ability to assess and manage clinical risk.
