Job Summary
Department: Imaging Department (General X‐ray Areas)
Responsibilities
- Manage and perform radiographic examinations, correlate practice with Directorate protocols, train and supervise junior staff and trainees, work independently during out‐of‐hours duties.
Main Duties
- Assist senior Radiographic staff with day‐to‐day management and function of radiological sciences.
- Supervise and support junior staff; ensure an efficient and high‐quality service.
- Manage and report equipment / power failures as appropriate.
- Promote and participate in clinical audits.
- Conduct radiographic examinations to an acceptable standard and seek guidance as needed.
- Adhere to the ALARA principle and ensure safety in the use of ionizing radiation.
- Produce high‐quality, accurately labelled images.
- Complete mandatory training and demonstrate competency in equipment use.
- Participate in appraisal processes and full shift system, including evenings, nights and weekends.
- Utilise Patient Administration System and Radiological Sciences technology (e.g., PACS).
Application Requirements
- 18 months (about 1 and a half years) post‐Degree/DCR(R) qualification experience, BSc (Honours) Degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
- NHS experience.
- Minimum 18 months (about 1 and a half years) post‐qualification experience, evidence of a wide range of general work.
- Experience in other modalities.
- Extensive anatomical knowledge, understanding of pathological processes.
- Good interpersonal skills, effective communication, decision‐making, leadership, management and supervisory skills, excellent radiographic skills.
- Uphold and model Trust values, full HCPC registration.
